McKinney-Vento Act

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1987. It is a U.S. federal law that provides federal money for homeless shelter programs. As an Arizona public school, Pomerene Elementary School will provide an educational environment that treats all students with dignity and respect.

Every student experiencing homelessness or transition shall have access to the same free and appropriate educational opportunities as students who are not homeless. This commitment to the educational rights of homeless children, youth, and unaccompanied youth, applies to all the services, programs, and activities we provide every Pomerene student.

Please read more about the rights of all homeless and transitional students in accordance with the McKinney-Vento Act.
