Special Needs
Child Find IDEA “97 P.L. 105-17 (Individuals with Disabilities Act)
The Pomerene School offers special programs for students whose needs require support services that are different from the general population of students. We are prepared to set up specialized curriculum to serve identified students, ages three to 21.
We screen all students and identify those with special needs via testing procedures according to state law.
These programs include but are not limited to:
- Gifted Education
- Emotional Disability
- Visual or Hearing Impairments
- Specific Learning Disability
- Speech/Language Disability
- Mental Retardation
- Multiple Disabilities
- Preschool Delays

Is your child having more difficulty learning than others?
Pomerene School District screens children in our district ages two years, ten and a half months through 21 years to check your child’s development and academic progress. Screening and evaluation are free. All information contained in the screening or evaluation is confidential.
